The Project
Application: Residential
Location: Leeds, Kippax
System: Modular Ramp, Easirail and Paving

Requirements
The customer required an access solution to help them exit their property safely and comfortably. The existing porch layout presented several challenges, as it required a sharp turn inside the house to reach the front door, this was difficult to navigate due to limited mobility and the restricted space available. Additionally, installing a ramp from the existing doorway would have created another sharp turn immediately outside, making access even more difficult. To provide a smoother and more direct route, the most effective solution was to install a new doorway in place of the existing porch window, allowing the customer to exit the property in a straight line without the need for any awkward or restrictive turns.
Features
The ramp needed to be suitable and fit for purpose, following on from our site survey we determined that the ramp needed to have the following specification:
- A straight bridge (not a ramp due to it being on an upwards sloping hill).
- Easirail used in conjunction with our ramp handrails that lead up their new path.
- An Aco drain to allow water that flows down the path to be moved away from the house to prevent it from pooling up.
- An aluminium threshold extension plates used to ensure there is no gaps in the system.
End Result
We installed a new low-level threshold external door along with a new internal porch door, removing the high threshold that had previously created difficulties for the customer. This improvement allows for a smooth, straight route out of the property with minimal obstacles. Outside, a straight bridge connects the new doorway to a newly constructed path, providing an uninterrupted and accessible transition. To further enhance safety and ease of movement, extended handrails were added along both sides of the bridge and path, offering additional support and stability.
