Expanded Metal

Our expanded metal surface is a fantastic choice that offers both quality and affordability. Our expanded metal is made from mild steel and provides a slip-resistant surface in multiple directions. We are proud to inform you that it has been thoroughly tested and certified to meet the BS7976 Part 2 (Pendulum Test) standards. It has been rated as having a low slip potential (>35 PTV) on various gradients, whether wet or dry. You can trust that this surface will keep you secure in all weather conditions.

Our design also allows for natural drainage, ensuring a firm footing at all times. Thanks to the mesh profile, you’ll have excellent grip from any direction, while still enjoying a comfortable and sturdy surface underfoot. It’s suitable for most types of footwear, so you can feel confident walking on it.

Let’s talk about how our expanded metal is manufactured. We use an expanding machine that transforms solid metal sheets, specifically steel, into an expanded metal mesh. The machine is equipped with a knife that determines the pattern for the mesh. As the metal passes through the machine, it is cut and stretched simultaneously using a pressured slitting and stretching process. This creates uniform holes in the metal, forming the mesh. The mesh is then welded onto the steel frame to create our ramps and platforms. To protect against weathering and prevent rusting, we apply a hot-dip galvanizing process. This involves immersing the sections in a bath of molten zinc, providing an effective weather barrier.

For maintenance, our expanded metal platforms and sections can be easily cleaned with water, a mild detergent, and a hard brush when necessary. Debris below the ramp can typically be brushed away. If there’s any unwanted plant growth, feel free to use weed killer, which can be sprayed through the surface without causing any damage.

For high-traffic areas and safety surfaces, we recommend using a high-powered hose to remove contaminants and debris effectively. This will help keep the surface in optimal condition.

Easitread

Introducing Easitread Rubberised Surface – your ideal choice for a soft, durable, and weather-proof walkway. It’s perfect for child-friendly environments like nurseries, schools, and leisure centres, providing excellent drainage and impact absorption.

By default, Easitread comes in black, but we also offer colour options for an additional charge. Want highlighted sections or custom signage/branding? Reach out to our team, and we’ll be happy to discuss these options with you.

Let’s talk about how Easitread is manufactured. We use top-quality rubber granules in a thickness of 15mm, applied with a polyurethane binder, on a sturdy metal platform frame. Unlike low-grade EPDM and colour-coated rubber granules, our granules are sourced from the UK and undergo advanced manufacturing processes. This ensures vibrant colours, unrivalled UV resistance, and long-lasting elasticity. Even after years of wear and tear, the surface remains supple to the touch, thanks to its exceptional UV aging properties.

To keep your Easitread surface looking great, occasional brushing with a mild detergent solution is recommended to remove deposits like mud. For high-traffic areas and safety surfaces, we suggest using a high-powered hose to remove contaminants and debris.

GRP

Our GRP surface is designed with your needs in mind. It’s a friendly 6mm thick layer that’s not only tough and durable but also enhances slip resistance. This makes it perfect for busy places like hospitals, museums, and airports where lots of people walk. We offer it in standard grey and black colours, but we can also highlight the edges to signal ramps or platforms if you need.

Our surface comes in different grades to meet your specific requirements. The standard grade is 24, known as “Pedestrian Grade.” It means that for every square centimetre, you get approximately 24 pieces of aluminium oxide, which is much more durable than common quartz finishes. We also have 40 (“Barefoot Grade”) and 16 (“Industrial Grade”) available.

When it comes to manufacturing, we use high-quality materials to ensure the best performance. Our GRP sheets are made from glass fibre, top-notch isophthalic polyester resins, UV stabilizers, flame retardants, colour pigments, and aluminium oxide granules. This coating provides excellent resistance to impact, abrasion, and solvents, making it an ideal choice for public access ramps.

Our GRP surface is fixed to a specially designed galvanized steel frame using a single-part polyurethane sealant and rivets, creating an incredibly strong solution. You can choose to receive the platforms ready-made, or as separate sheets and frames for on-site installation.
