Following our first Coast & Castles charity ride, a smaller team returned to take on an even longer journey.
This time, six riders travelled from Edinburgh to the Easibathe and Easiaccess headquarters in Gateshead, covering approximately 170 miles over three days.
The challenge once again raised money for Easifoundation, helping us continue supporting charities, organisations and community projects.
Thankfully, unlike the extremely wet conditions faced during our previous ride, the weather was much kinder to the team this time around.
A Longer Route and a Smaller Team
Starting in Edinburgh added extra distance to the challenge, with the riders travelling from the Scottish capital, along the coastline and across the border into England.
The route continued through Berwick-upon-Tweed, Bamburgh and Amble before finishing at the Easibathe and Easiaccess headquarters in Gateshead.
Although there were only six riders this time, everyone put in a fantastic effort across the three days.
The generally pleasant weather made it easier to enjoy the scenery, coastal views and historic locations along the route. There were still some windy sections to contend with, but conditions were much better than those experienced during the previous challenge.
Day One: Edinburgh to Berwick-upon-Tweed
The second Coast & Castles ride began in Edinburgh, with the team setting off on the first stage towards Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Starting from the Scottish capital meant there were more miles to cover than during the previous ride. However, the team began in good spirits and made the most of the dry conditions.
The route took the riders out of Edinburgh and along the coast, offering plenty of views along the way.
While the distance provided an immediate challenge, everyone maintained a steady pace and supported one another throughout the day.
Reaching Berwick-upon-Tweed marked the end of a successful opening stage and gave the team the opportunity to rest before continuing further down the Northumberland coast.
Day Two: Berwick-upon-Tweed to Amble
The second day took the riders from Berwick-upon-Tweed towards Amble.
This section of the route included some of the most recognisable scenery from the Coast & Castles journey, including the impressive Bamburgh Castle.
The weather remained mostly pleasant, allowing the team to enjoy the route without having to battle the constant rain and cold experienced during the previous year.
There was some wind to contend with, which made certain sections more difficult, particularly after the miles already completed on the first day. However, everyone continued to work together and keep the pace moving.
The smaller group helped create a strong team atmosphere, with all six riders encouraging one another through the more tiring parts of the journey.
As with our previous Coast & Castles ride, Bamburgh also provided the perfect opportunity for another memorable team photo with ice creams in hand. Thankfully, the weather made it a much more sensible choice this time around.
After another long day in the saddle, reaching Amble meant the majority of the challenge had been completed.

Day Three: Amble to Gateshead
The final stage took the team from Amble, through the North East and towards the finish at Easibathe and Easiaccess headquarters in Gateshead.
By this point, two days of cycling and well over 100 miles had begun to take their toll. Even with better weather, completing approximately 170 miles in three days was never going to be easy.
Knowing that colleagues and familiar surroundings were waiting at the finish helped give the riders the final boost they needed.
Arriving at the Gateshead headquarters marked the end of another successful Coast & Castles challenge.
The six riders had travelled from Edinburgh, crossed the border and cycled through some of the most scenic parts of the Northumberland coast before completing the final miles back to HQ.
It was a fantastic effort from everyone involved.

Supporting Easifoundation
The second Coast & Castles ride raised £685 for Easifoundation.
Every donation contributed to the Easifoundation fund, helping us support relevant charities, organisations and community projects.
We would like to thank everyone who donated, shared the fundraiser or supported the riders during the challenge.
A special congratulations must also go to the six members of the team who took part. Cycling approximately 170 miles from Edinburgh to Gateshead over three days required determination, teamwork and plenty of effort.
The route may have brought better weather this time, but the distance, hills and wind still made it a demanding challenge.
Despite the tired legs, everyone remained positive and completed another memorable Coast & Castles journey for Easifoundation.
